"I sometimes re-build rooms like bathroom if the customer and I are the right fit. If I do a re-build, I need free access to that room or it simply won't get done. So I rarely take inside room re-build jobs. But: if we get along well and go under contract you will be very happy with the results!"
Hour long process includes obligatory level 1 inspection. All soot/creosote is removed from the chimney vent pipes- from the appliance to the chimney top.
Types of chimney cleanings: Oil burner, wood stove, fireplace, wood insert etc.
Many people don't realize if you burn oil you NEED to get your chimney cleaned occasionally!!
Level 1: Basic inspection, checks to see if your chimney and appliances are all working properly and safely. A level 1 inspection is done for EVERY chimney cleaned. Notes as to the condition of your system will be on your invoice after the sweep/inspection is concluded.)
Level 2: Same as level 1 but a level 2 inspection shall include all accessible portions of the appliance & chimney connections. This includes crawl spaces, basements and attics.
Level 3: You do NOT want to need a level 3 inspection. A level 3 inspection includes DEMOLITION. "Removal and/or destruction of permanently attached portions of the chimney or building structure, as necessary to determine compliance with this standard."(15.5.3.2 NFPA 2024) When necessary we do these inspections with as little damage as possible, and usually repair the damage ourselves. It sounds more scary than it is-- but nobody likes to have their walls ripped open, even if the holes are the size of a picture frame.
Cement crowns are the keystone to your chimney. As the name "crown" suggests, it is the bed of mortar on the very top of your chimney. The crown is your chimneys roof. They break down faster than any other part of the chimney. They are exposed to the most weather, freeze/thaw and sunlight. Because of Ice damage, these often need to be repaired after 10+ years. Concrete lasts longer but can't breathe. The crown is actually a vent made of mortar mix.
Where the chimney and roof meet, there is metal flashing. This keeps water out of your home. Oftentimes roofers simply tar over this and it leaks. When installed properly, your flashing will outlive your roof. We fix chimney flashing regularly. Aluminum, lead and copper are typically used (depending on the roof/house style.) Stainless steel parts can be made but are not part of normal flashing.
These are measured for your house and manufactured just for you. These are metal parts on or above your roof that protect your home from rain & weather. They can be made with Stainless steel or with added expense Copper.
Over time the mortar between bricks will crumble. We grind out a little deeper than the loose mortar and slick all new joints with fresh cement. If you wait too long to get this done, bricks start to fall!! But with a good grind-out re-point job: your chimney will be reborn! It'll typically buy you another 20+ years of durability. That's a very good thing. The stone on our houses should be strong, not dusty!
Custom brick works available.

Dryers build up lint and are a fire hazard. If you don't clean your own dryer vent pipes-- OR you have a very long vent pipe, you need to get these cleaned occasionally. The price on a dryer vent cleaning varies depending on the difficulty of your house and if it's on a 2nd floor.
